Police: Man took Trump yard sign

GREENFIELD — A Greenfield man faces a misdemeanor theft charge after he swiped a campaign sign supporting Donald Trump from a neighbor’s yard, according to court documents.

A man told police he watched Beau Gibson, 23, run into his front yard in the 1200 block of W. County Road 100N, pull the Trump sign from the ground and drive off in a pickup truck, court documents state.

Police stopped Gibson’s truck near the intersection of Broadway Street and McKenzie Road, and they found the Trump yard sign inside the vehicle. Gibson told police the sign belonged to his father, court documents state.

Gibson was not arrested; instead he agreed to appear in court for a hearing May 16.

The misdemeanor charge Gibson faces carries a penalty of up to a year in jail and $5,000 in fines.
