GREENFIELD — The Greenfield-Central Junior High Music Department recently hosted the Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) Junior/Middle Organization Festival. This event featured 32 band, choir and orchestra performances involving students from 19 different schools in the central Indiana area. The participating groups performed three selections of music for three judges, who evaluated the group’s musical abilities, gave comments and a rating of gold, silver or bronze.
In addition to serving as host to more than 1,000 visiting musicians from other schools, the GCJHS groups were successful with their own performances. Both of the bands, directed by Dave Poncar, and all three choirs, directed by Pam Johnson, received Superior marks from all of the judges, and each GCJHS group earned a gold rating overall.
