Hancock County tennis tournament postponed

The 2016 Hancock County tennis tournament was postponed Friday night due to heavy rainfall and wet courts.

The event will be made up at a date yet to be determined.

The Mt. Vernon Marauders have won four of the past five team titles and are searching for a three-peat this season.

Eastern Hancock track night event scheduled

The Eastern Hancock Athletic Boosters are sponsoring their annual Elementary Track and Field Night on Thursday, May 5, for elementary school students in grades first through fourth.

The purpose of the event is to introduce students to track and field. Each participant will receive a day of practice on May 3 with Eastern Hancock High School and Middle School athletes to learn the events they will compete in.

Each student will compete is two track events (a sprint and distance event) and two field events (long jump and shot put). The event is open to students from all schools.

The cost is $15, with a registration deadline of May 2. More information and entry forms are available at ehathletics.org.

Track team selling Cougar Value Cards

The Greenfield-Central track and field team is selling the remainder of the Cougar Value Cards for $5 each as a fundraiser for the program.

These cards regularly sell for $10 and are good until Sept. 1. See any track team member or contact ConnieJo Harris to purchase a card today while supplies last.

Purchasers are eligible to receive various discounts every time the card is used at any of the following locations: That Fun Place, The Mug, Arby’s, Papa Murphy’s, Ye Olde Head Shoppe Salon & Spa, McCleerey’s Sporting Goods, Orange Leaf, Two Sisters Cakery, Montana Mike’s, Chicago’s Pizza, Express Car Wash, Valvoline Express, Applebee’s, Worland Cleaners, Strike Force Lanes, Papa John’s, McDonald’s, Greenfield Chocolates, White Castle and Firehouse Subs.

Drive Ford fundraiser returns to New Pal

A Drive Ford Fundraiser will be conducted from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 14 in the New Palestine High School parking lot.

Test drive a 2016 Ford vehicle and Ford Motor Company will donate $20 per driver to the New Palestine High School Athletic Booster Club.

All test drivers will receive a shopping bag filled with goodies from Ford. In addition, all those who test drive or volunteer are entered for a chance to win a New Palestine All Season Sports Pass, an electric guitar and gift baskets filled with New Palestine spirit wear.

Walk-ups are welcome or a time slot can be reserved.

Aquatics team opening pool to new swimmers

The Greenfield Community Aquatic Team is looking for new members. GCAT is a year-round competitive swimming program for children ages 7 to 18, offering high quality professional coaching and technique instruction for all abilities.

The minimum requirements to join is for the participant to be able to swim 25-meter front crawl and 25-meter on their back (one length of the pool).

The team trains at the Greenfield-Central Aquatic Center located at 810 North Broadway Street.
