James “Jim” D. Leisring Sr., age 74, of Greenfield, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2016, at his residence. He was born on March 4, 1942, in Evansville, Ind., as the son of Edgar Franklin Leisring and Helen Ruth (Risley) Geppner.
He graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in 1972. He married Fran (Summers) on May 14, 1960. Jim worked for The Estridge Group for 23 years before retiring in 2008. He also worked for Western Electric for 8 years. Mr. Leisring was a member of Mohawk United Methodist Church in Greenfield and Gold Wing Road Riders Association in Indianapolis. Jim enjoyed riding his motorcycle, fishing, traveling, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Fran Leisring of Greenfield; son, James D. (Melinda) Leisring Jr. of South Bend; daughters, Rhonda Wesche of Greenfield, Lori (Brian) Paul of Cloverdale and Robin (Pete) Alvelo of Greenville, TX; brother, David Leisring of Boonville; and 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edgar F. Leisring; mother, Helen Geppner; brother, Jack Leisring; and half-brother, Stephen W. Geppner.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Friday, April 22, 2016 at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will take place immediately following the visitation at 4 p.m. Pastor Marianne Nichols will be officiating.
