New Palestine surges in baseball rankings

The Class 3A New Palestine Dragons baseball team continues to climb the Indiana High School Baseball Coaches Association rankings.

The Dragons entered the spring ranked 10th overall in the IHSBCA’s preseason poll. On Monday, they jumped to fifth in the state, tied with Hoosier Heritage Conference foe Yorktown, after opening the year a flawless 2-0.

New Palestine and Yorktown are scheduled to meet in a HHC doubleheader at 5:30 p.m. Friday in Delaware County.

Aquatics team opening pool to new swimmers

The Greenfield Community Aquatic Team is looking for new members. GCAT is a year-round competitive swimming program for children ages 7 to 18, offering high quality professional coaching and technique instruction for all abilities.

The goal of the team is to provide every member an opportunity to improve swimming skills and achieve success at his or her level of ability, from novice to international competitor.

The minimum requirements to join is for the participant to be able to swim 25-meter front crawl and 25-meter on their back (one length of the pool).

All of GCAT’s coaches, as members of the American Swimming Coaches Association, have access to the most comprehensive training and certification program for youth coaches of any sport in the United States.

GCAT has consistently produced swimmers whom have competed at the state and national levels. The team trains at the Greenfield-Central Aquatic Center located at 810 North Broadway Street.
