GREENFIELD — A 19-year-old truck driver was airlifted Tuesday morning to an Indianapolis hospital after a two-vehicle crash that closed State Street near Opportunity Parkway in Greenfield.

Jonathan Brown of Fort Wayne was driving a box truck southbound on State Street when he rear-ended a black sport-utility vehicle, police said.

The box truck traveled through the intersection, careened off the east side of State Street and collided with a utility pole, police said.

Police said Brown was semiconscious when paramedics examined him at the scene, but his injuries were believed to be non-life-threatening.

Scott Poole, 50, of Anderson, was the driver of the SUV; his wife, Neyllen Poole, 51, was a passenger. Both were taken to Hancock Regional Hospital with minor injuries, police said.

The crash left State Road 9 north of the Interstate 70 closed to traffic for about an hour Tuesday morning as emergency crews cleared the scene.
