The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four time annually and violations are determined as “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection Reports.

Feb. 4

Big Lots

Location: 1618 N. State St., GreenfieldType of Inspection: RoutineViolations: C — milk and lunchables have expired, corrected and discarded.

Ponderosa Steak House

Location: 1585 N. State St., GreenfieldType of Inspection: Routine

Violations: NC — hood over fryers is dripping, to be corrected by May 1; NC — repair/replace stainless steel panels behind dish machine, to be corrected by May 1; NC — clean ceiling by vent in veggie prep area, to be corrected by May 1; C — mushroom slicer only rinsed after use, corrected.

Tour of Italy

Location: 5 American Legion Place, GreenfieldType of Inspection: RoutineViolations: C — need to have copy of food handler certification in store, to be corrected by May 1; C — employee seen touching ready-to-eat food with bare hands, corrected; C — sauce with meatballs not being held at 135 degrees or above, corrected; C — dish machine not dispensing sanitizer, corrected; NC — walls in room where dough is made need to be finished/repaired so they are smooth, cleanable and nonabsorbent, to be corrected by May 1.

Lincoln Square Pancake House

Location: 118 W. Main St., GreenfieldType of Inspection: RoutineViolations: C — salad prep/dressings cooler too warm, corrected; C — sanitizing solution too strong, corrected.

Feb. 5

Bob Evans

Location: 2256 N. State St., GreenfieldType of Inspection: RoutineViolations: C — eggs on line above the cooling line of the table are too warm, corrected.

Wooden Bear Brewing Company

Location: 21 W. North St., GreenfieldType of Inspection: RoutineNo violations found.

Jim Dandy Restaurant

Location: 80 W. McKenzie Road, GreenfieldType of Inspection: RoutineViolations: C/R — mayo, tartar sauce, pies in the case and chicken in cold holding all too warm, corrected; C/R — must date mark all in-house prepared ready-to-eat foods if held longer than 24 hours, mashed potatoes in hot holding too cool, corrected; C — bean salad, pasta salad, cole slaw, etc., must be marked to be disposed of within 7 days, corrected; NC/R — “fuzzies” have developed in some areas of the kitchen ceiling where grease and grime collect, to be corrected by May 1; NC — ice cream scoop must be stored on clean surface, dipper must have running water to clean and sanitize scoop for ice cream after use, corrected.

Montana Mike’s

Location: 1945 N. State St., GreenfieldType of Inspection: RoutineViolations: C — cheese stuff mixture for mushrooms needs to be date-marked, corrected; C — cold holding of potentially hazardous foods and prep cooler with chicken and shrimp too warm, corrected; NC — need thermometers in all refrigerated units, to be corrected by May 1.
