Phillip Harrington Strahl, 78, passed away on Friday, March 25, 2016. He was born in Indianapolis, Ind., on January 18, 1938.

He was a 1956 Cathedral High school graduate, was a 7 year veteran of the U.S. Navy, and the owner and operator of E&M Installation Inc., until his retirement. In his earlier years, he was a multi-talented athlete. He played baseball, football, basketball and tennis. He raced SCCA sports cars, and had a real appreciation for classic cars, owning several throughout his lifetime.

He was an avid White Sox, Cubs and Colts fan, and he shared his love of “the game” with everyone. He also shared his passion for great music with his children.

Phil was a loyal and generous friend, who enjoyed helping others. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandson. He truly loved being a grandpa, and they dearly love him.

He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Greenfield, Indiana. He has been a resident of Brandywine/Golden Living Nursing Home for the past 7 years, in Greenfield, Indiana.

Phil is survived by his wife, Penelope Strahl; daughters, Valerie Strahl, Michele Strahl Silvey, and Hilary (Greg) Fedorinchik; sons, Matthew Strahl, Christopher (Joni) Strahl, and Jonathon (Carrie) Strahl; ten grandchildren; one great-grandson; a brother, Michael (Luanne) Strahl; and sister, Karren (Richard) Edwards.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Francis Harrington Strahl and Donald W. Strahl.

Family and Friends may gather from 1 to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at Flanner and Buchanan-Memorial Park, 9350 E. Washington St, Indianapolis, where funeral services will immediately follow at 3 p.m. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors.
