Devoy has qualities needed in coroner position

To the editor:

I recently watched the debate for Hancock County coroner and was impressed with the candidates.

I had the pleasure of serving the citizens of Hancock County for eight years as the elected coroner and eight years as a deputy coroner. I know the needs of the office as well as the needs of the citizens.

During my time as coroner I appointed both (current coroner candidates) Dan Devoy and Rudy Nylund. Both are great men.

Dan served as my chief deputy and was a great addition to my team. Dan displayed both a compassionate and professional attitude and brought great integrity to the staff.

Dan is a very dedicated investigator who took the role of speaking for the deceased very serious. Dan Devoy would be very capable of handling any aspect of the coroner’s office as well as building on the already established relationships between law enforcement and the community.

I urge each citizen to get out and exercise your right to vote for a very important office. Dan Devoy has the qualities to properly lead the coroner’s office and properly investigate any death he is called upon to investigate.

I will support Dan Devoy with my vote in this upcoming election.
