Kenneth Darrell Wheeler, born on Oct. 21, 1947, in Monticello, Ky., to Kenneth Wheeler and Bonnie Begley, passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2016, at the age of 68, in Indianapolis. He left his mortal realm to begin his journey to the eternal afterlife with his family by his side.

Always wearing a ball cap and cowboy boots, you would most likely find him on the open road in a Semi, tinkering with train models, playing the drums, or watching Cowboys and Indians movies with his favorite star John Wayne.  Being a truck driver his whole life, he lived out some of his passions in his youth like being a firefighter volunteer for Oaklandon Fire Department.

Kenneth has touched many lives in one way or another, and we are at peace knowing he is no longer in pain.  Rest in Peace.  He will be forever in our hearts.

He lives on today through the hearts of his family his wife, Sharon; children, Diana (Anthony) Leohr; Darrell Steven (Maureen) Wheeler, Mariann (Matthew) Torbert, Kenneth Darrell (Peter) Wheeler; stepdaughter, Christy; mother, Bonnie Begley; two brothers, Danny Wheeler and Benny Barnes; sister, Edith (Donald) Denny; five grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was received in heaven by his late grandparents, Claud and Eva Wheeler and father, Kenneth Wheeler.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 25, 2016, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A celebration of life service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2016, also at the mortuary. Chaplain Mark Watkins will be officiating.
