Charles “Charley” Leland Saunders, 56, of Knightstown/Charlottesville area entered eternal life on Saturday, March 19, 2016, with his family by his side. He was born on Aug. 26, 1959, to the late Bernard Neil and Gladys Louise (Pearson) Saunders in New Castle.

Charley was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend. He married his wife Tammy (Helms) Saunders on Jan. 16, 1981. He was widely known as a great auctioneer and had a passion for collecting antiques, especially pottery. Charley had a contagious personality who never met a stranger and had a story for everything.

They have two children and seven grandchildren; son Josh Brinson and wife, Misty, with children, Noah, Gabriella, Cody, Kaitlyn, Wyatt and Damien; daughter Trilby Whitham (Saunders), mother of Destiny Layne; five brothers, Wayne (Trish), Reece (Joan), David, Jim (Kelly), and Elmer (Carla); sister-in- law, Brenda Elsamiller (Rich); brothers-in-law; Terry Helms (Linda), Michael Mosley (Nycol) and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents Charley was preceded in death by his brother Danny Saunders.

Services for Charley will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday March 23, 2016, at HERITAGE FUNERAL CARE in Knightstown. Friends may visit from 11 a.m. until time of service. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown with Minister George Huff to preside.

Memorial contributions may be made in Charley’s memory to the St. Vincent Heart Hospital.
