Royals’ True earns all-conference honor

Eastern Hancock sophomore Addison True was named All-Mid-Hoosier Conference for the 2015-16 boys basketball season.

The 5-foot-9 point guard led the Class 2A Royals in scoring with 371 points and 163 rebounds.

True averaged a team-best 16.1 points per game and carried a 7.1 rebounds per contest average, which ranked him first among his teammates.

As the team’s primary facilitator, True dished out 3.0 assists per game and recorded 2.4 steals a night.

True had five double doubles this year and posted a single-season high with 23 points against Edinburgh on Feb. 16 during the Royals’ 63-54 victory.

The Royals finished the year with a record of 7-16.

Boys basketball semistates Saturday

The final four teams in each classification for boys basketball will get whittled down to two by Saturday night.

Four different venues across the state will host a pair of semistate games with the winner of each game advancing to next weekend’s 106th Annual IHSAA Boys Basketball State Finals at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

Admission to each semistate site is $8. All times listed are ET, unless otherwise noted.

Youth football league planning skills camp

The Marauder Youth Football League is offering a free spring football skills camp. The three-day camp is designed to instruct the core fundamentals in all offensive and defensive positions.

The “no contact” camp will be conducted from 2 to 4 p.m. April 3, 10 and 17. Each session will be conducted on the MYFL Fields behind Fortville Elementary School. Players need to bring cleats and mouth pieces.

Pacers recall Whittington

The Indiana Pacers announced Tuesday they have recalled center Shayne Whittington from their affiliate in the NBA’s Development League, the Fort Wayne Mad Ants.
