Brent A Smitley, 46, of McCordsville, passed away March 9, 2016. He was born on Sept. 17, 1969, in Fort Wayne, as the son of Dick and Karen Smitley.
Brent graduated from Paul Harding High School in Fort Wayne. He was a Grounds Manager at Heartland Growers. He married Marcy (Bayly) Smitley on July 31, 1999, in Lake George, Ny.
Brent was an avid Colts fan, and he enjoyed spending time with his boys, his dogs, camping, fishing and riding his motorcycle.
He is survived by his wife, Marcy, of McCordsville; three children, Garrett (Leah) Smitley, of Fort Worth, Texas, Cody Smitley and Parker Smitley, both of McCordsville; parents, Dick and Karen Smitley, of Fort Wayne; mother-in-law, Pat Bayly; brother, Chad (Betsy)Smitley, of Fort Wayne; uncle and aunt, Don and Kay Gerber; aunt, Jeanelle Gerber; cousins, Robb and Krissy Grostefon; cousins, Dave and Julie Shriner; cousins, Matt and Amber Gerber; nieces and nephews, Lawton, Sydney, Kya, Braden, Noah, Jaxen, Rylan, Micaela, Gregory, Luke, Megan, Noah, Ellie, Jaime, Nicole, Nathan, Miah and Sami.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Vera and Ira Gerber; paternal grandparents, Ethel and Cecil Smitley; and father-in-law Joe Bayly.
Visitation will be held from Noon until 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2016, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 124 E. Staat St., Fortville, IN 46040. A funeral service will be held immediately following visitation and will begin at 3 p.m. Pastor Aaron Hargis will be officiating.
