Daily Reporter Bracket Challenge has arrived

You are invited to participate in the Daily Reporter’s Bracket Challenge in connection with the men’s college basketball tournament.

Go to greenfieldreporter.com/bracket to register for entry in this year’s contest. Once the teams are selected Sunday evening, you’ll have until 11 a.m. March 17 to fill in your brackets.

The contest is part of a larger $1 million contest, but we will also have lots of local prizes including electronics, gift cards, gift certificates for local services, and local event tickets. In addition to the overall contest, there is a round-by-round contest allowing participants a second chance at prizes.

Entrants must be at least 18 years of age as of March 17, 2016, and not employed by AIM Media Indiana to be eligible for prizes. No purchase necessary for entry.

Marauders stars set for Top 60 Senior Workout

Ariana Sandefur and Sydney Shelton, both of Mt. Vernon, have been invited to participate in Hoosier Basketball Magazine’s 2016 Top 60 Senior Workout.

Eight players that participated in the 2015-16 IHSAA State Finals highlight the list of invitees: Camryn Buhr and Kaitlyn Marenyi (4A Penn), Paige Littrell and Elle Williams (4A Columbus North), Darby Foresman and Tyasha Harris (3A Heritage Christian), Cameron Onken (2A Lafayette Central Catholic) and Valerie Rospopo (Class A Argos).

The Top 60 Senior Workout includes five of the state’s top senior scorers in Kristen Spolyar, Lebanon (35.6 ppg); Jackie Young, Princeton (34.9); Lindsey Corsaro, Roncalli (25.3); Holly Hoopingarner, Greenwood (23.6); and Jayla Scaife, Muncie Central (23.5).

Two sessions will be conducted by Hoosier Basketball Magazine in conjunction with the IHSAA and the IBCA on Sunday on the campus of Marian University in Indianapolis. The first session runs from 1 to 3 p.m. with the second session (primarily of central Indiana players) from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Seven-time state champion coach Rick Risinger (Heritage Christian) will direct both sessions along with Donna Buckley (Noblesville), Beth DeVinney (Lebanon), Kristi Ulrich (Penn) and Tim Young (Vincennes Rivet).

Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students.

Fundraiser planned for New Pal baseball

A fundraiser breakfast is set from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at the New Palestine Lions Club to support the New Palestine High School baseball team.

The breakfast will provide supporters with a chance to meet the players and coaches.

There are no advanced tickets, but free-will donations will be accepted the day of the event.

In addition, an indoor garage sale hosted by the American Legion Auxiliary Post 182 will take place the same day. The garage sale will be conducted during the breakfast hours.

All proceeds from the garage sale will benefit veterans and the auxiliary programs. All season decorations and home décor will be included.
