Trio of county players named IBCA All-State

On Thursday, the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association released its 2015-16 Supreme 15 All-State honors, and four local girls basketball players earned recognition.

Mt. Vernon’s Sydney Shelton was voted to the IBCA/Subway Supreme 15 Senior girls team.

Shelton, an Indiana Junior All-Star core six member last summer, broke Hancock County’s all-time career scoring record this season.

Greenfield-Central’s Madison Wise, the 2015-16 Daily Reporter Player of the Year, was named to the IBCA Supreme 15 Underclass girls team.

Ranked in the nation’s top-60 for the Class of 2017 by ESPN, Wise was selected as a core six member for the 2016 Indiana Junior All-Stars.

Greenfield-Central’s Katie Helgason was named to the IBCA Underclass Large School All-State Team (Class 3A-4A). The point guard was chosen as a 2016 Indiana Junior All-Star for the south group.
