Linda Belle Bright, 67, of Greenfield walked on at Hancock Regional Hospital, surrounded by family on March 2, 2016, after a lengthy illness. Linda was born Oct. 12, 1948, at home in Brown County, Ind.., to the late Dortha E. (Anderson) and Robert L. Bright, Sr.

Linda graduated from Monrovia High School in 1966. She earned a Secretarial Certification and an Associates in Accounting at Indiana Business College. In 1971, she began working for the Indiana Department of Health in Indianapolis where she worked until retiring in 2010.

Linda was devoted to her family. She was the problem solver, the counselor and even the banker. Linda was always willing to help. Linda had a quick wit and loved to taunt and tease. Before her mother’s passing, she spent her spare time working in her mother’s greenhouse and helping her make dolls. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, embroidery, painting and drawing. One of her favorite things to do was play cards, especially euchre. She also collected unique costume jewelry, Native American items, angels and nativities. She was an avid reader and enjoyed watching old Westerns. Linda was famous for baking blonde brownies and making cheese balls.

Survivors include her siblings, Robert L. (Red) Bright, Jr. of Petersburg, Ind., Walter Bright and wife, Joyce of Greenwood, Bridget Rode of Indianapolis, Annie Bright and Rebecca Schrock and husband, John all of Poland, Ind.; nieces, and nephews, Robert L. Bright, III of Florida, John Bright of Alaska, James Fields and wife Kellie of Chesterton, Ind., Chris Fields of Poland, Ind., Alison and Vanessa Bright of Greenwood, Donald Rode and Amanda Rode of Indianapolis and several great- nieces and nephews. Two special young ones who were like grandchildren to her, Isaiah Rode- Warsaw and Aliviah Rode- Jones.

She was preceded in death by her parents; nephew, Teddy Rode and niece, Susan Jones.

A visitation and memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2016, at Riley Park Shelter House, 210 N. Apple Greenfield, IN 46140. Visitation begins at 11 a.m. The memorial services will begin at 1 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the animal welfare charity of your choice or Transitions Hospice at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield.
