Friends of the Library plans gently used sale for books

GREENFIELD — The Friends of the Hancock County Public Library, 900 W. McKenzie Road, will hold a sale of gently used items from today through Monday.

The sale offers books (print and audio), DVDs and CDs. Members may shop the preview sale from 6 to 8:30 p.m. today; but walk-ins can join the organization at a cost of $15 and shop the preview as well. The sale is open to the public from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday; and 1 to 3:45 p.m. Sunday.

The closeout sale runs from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday. All proceeds from book sales benefit the library.

Gourmet Girlfriends offers St. Patrick’s Day food ideas

GREENFIELD – “Your Gourmet Girlfriends,” a New-Palestine based chef service, presents a free workshop of ideas, recipes and gifts to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day at 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Hancock County Public Library, 900 E. McKenzie Road. Attendance is limited; register at hcplibrary.org.

Pendleton Artists Society sets reception for Spring show

PENDLETON – The Pendleton Artists Society presents its Spring Members Show and reception from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Gallery 119, 119 W. State St. Wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served, and a people’s choice award will be presented. The gallery is also open regular hours from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Guerrilla Girls plan Indy show for activists, writers, actors

INDIANAPOLIS – The Guerrilla Girls, a gorilla-suited collective of activists, writers and actors, will perform at 7 p.m. Monday in Ransburg Auditorium at the University of Indianapolis, 1400 E. Hanna Ave., as part of their 30th anniversary tour. The group uses facts and humor to expose discrimination in the arts, media and popular culture. This performance contains adult themes.
