Michael J. Schiewer, 64, of New Palestine, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2016, at Franciscan Hospice House. He was born on Jan. 28, 1952, in Indianapolis, as the son of Joseph K. and Joanne M. (Drake) Schiewer.

He graduated from Cathedral High School and received a Bachelor’s degree from Indiana State, as well as multiple Master’s degrees.

He worked for Franciscan St. Francis Health as an IT Specialist for 36 years. Mr. Schiewer was heavily involved in Boys Scouts of America, where he served in many roles, such as a chaplain of troop 152 and was a Firecrafter. He enjoyed geocaching, Indy Trivia and bowling at Strike Force Lanes in Greenfield. He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church.

Michael is survived by his son, Kevin M. Schiewer of New Palestine; daughter, Katherine M. Schiewer and spouse James A. Campbell of Noblesville; two stepgrandsons, Jacob and Ethan; parents, Joseph K. and Joanne M. (Drake) Schiewer of Indianapolis and brothers, Patrick K. Schiewer of Greenfield and Christopher A. Schiewer of Indianapolis.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Suzann P. Schiewer.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 29, 2016, with rosary at 3:30 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 1, 2016, at St. Michael Catholic Church, 519 Jefferson Blvd., Greenfield, IN 46140. Father Aaron M. Jenkins will be officiating. Burial will follow at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery in Indianapolis.
