James Thurau, 80, of Greenfield, passed away Sunday, Feb. 21, 2016. He was born on March 2, 1935, in Indiana, Pa., as the son of Henry and Verna (Verner) Thurau.
He served in the Army during Vietnam as a Sergeant First Class for over 20 years.
He is survived by his spouse, Doris (Alber) Thurau of Greenfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Debra Lynn Dresden and stepdaughter, Regina Sabine Lehmann.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016, at Vineyard Community Church, 1672 N. 600 W., Greenfield, IN 46140. Pastor Rick Francis will be officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison, Ind.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent directly to Hancock County Humane Society, 214 E. Main St., Greenfield, IN 46140 or envelopes will be available at the church.
