Virginia “Joyce” Ellis, 94, of Carthage, passed away Sunday, Feb. 21, 2016, in Morristown. She was born May 15, 1921, to the late Osro and Mae (Plummer) Draper in Hancock, Ind. She was a 1939 graduate of Mays High School.

She and her familymoved to Carthage in 1993, where she attended the Carthage East Street Christian Church. She also owned and operated Joyce’s Fashion Shop in the 1960’s in Carthage. She was a former member of the Greenfield ABWA, a member of the Christian’s Women’s Fellowship, also was an employee of ISSCH Knightstown, for 10 years in the 1970’s.

Joyce will be greatly missed by her daughters, Mrs. Judy (Bill) Muir of Carthage, Mrs. Linda (Alan) Burch of Plymouth, Ind., a son, Dr. Robert (Jean)Harrold Ellis of West Fargo, N,D.;a sister, Mrs. Wanda (James L.) Oakes of Lyndonville, Ny.;seven grandchildren; fivestepgrandchildren; twogreat- grandchildren and a great- great- grandchild.

In addition to her parents and husband, James, she was preceded in death by her sister, Anna Louise Chance and grandson, Brian Muir.

Services for Joyce will be held at 11 a.m.on Wednesday Feb. 24, 2016, at HERITAGE FUNERAL CARE in Knightstown. Friends may visit from 4-8 p.m. on Feb. 23, 2016, Tuesday Feb. 23, 2016,at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glen Cove Cemetery with Pastor Roger Campbell presiding.

Memorial contributions made in memory of Joyce may be made to the Carthage Community Church.
