Barbara Jane McCarthy, 82, of Indianapolis, passed away Feb. 21, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. She was born Sept. 7, 1933, in Indianapolis, to the late Albert W and Marie “Stauble” Springman.
Barbara will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother and for her strength, devotion to her family and church and giving back to others. She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
She is survived by her children, Mike (Michelle) McCarty III, Tim (Letsy) McCarthy, Bridget (Ken) Duckett and Danny (Shelley) McCarthy; sisters, Joan Sylvester and Dottie Gerdt; sevengrandsons and fivegranddaughters.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Michael E. McCarthy, of 56 years; her daughters, Kathleen and Maureen McCarthy; sisters, Mary Dickman, Virginia Dugan, Patricia Dolan; brother, Donald Springman.
Visitation will be held from 3-8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 25, in Feeney-Hornak Shadeland Mortuary. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 26, 2016,in the mortuary with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
Memorial’s in Barbara’s name may be made to Little Sisters of the Poor.
