Local resident recognized as business leader

GREENFIELD — Annie Grinstead of Greenfield was recently recognized by a regional publication as one of 40 leading local entrepreneurs.

In the Indianapolis Business Journal’s annual “Forty Under 40,” Grinstead explained her achievements as an event planner and as the owner of Positive Energy, an events planning company.

Insurance agent receives national award

GREENFIELD — Jerry Rogers, an insurance agent with Indiana Farm Bureau, was recently awarded the 2015 National Association Insurance and Financial Adviser’s Quality award.

This marks the 20th consecutive year Rogers has received the award, which is presented to representatives from the company for outstanding sales, client service and professionalism.

Chamber seeking nominations

GREENFIELD — The Greenfield Area Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations for the annual Community Walk of Fame awards dinner. Nominations are being accepted for:

  • Businessman of the year
  • Businesswoman of the year
  • Community hero
  • Nonprofit community service of the year
  • Entrepreneurial spirit
  • Chamber service
  • Chamber champion

Indiana unemployment drops

INDIANAPOLIS — Hancock County unemployment figures fell to 3.8 percent in December, a 1.3 percent improvement over the previous year.

Hancock County has the 15th-lowest unemployment rank in the state. The statewide average unemployment rank is 4.6 percent, according to a report issued by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.

Insurance agent wins award

GREENFIELD — Brad Hancock, an agent with Shelter Insurance in Greenfield, was recently honored as one of the company’s highest-achieving sales representatives.

Hancock received the “champion” designation from the company for his performance in 2015.

Hancock has worked at the local Shelter Insurance location since February 2003. During that time, he’s received the award six times.
