Greenfield-Central diver finishes 13th at state swim finals

INDIANAPOLIS — Greenfield-Central High School junior Shyanne Milne said a year made a quite a difference in the state high school meet Saturday at the IU Natatorium at IUPUI.

“Last year I was 31st, this year I’m 13th,” Milne said. “That’s a really big improvement for me, I did a lot of hard work. I’m really proud of where I placed.”

Milne said she plans to do summer diving.

“So by hopefully next year I’ll be even more improved and hopefully I’ll get up on the podium (for top eight). We’ll see how that goes.”

Milne finished with 399.75 points.

“We were glad to see her make the finals,” Greenfield-Central diving coach Duane Knecht said. “We’re very pleased with her performance (Saturday).”

Mt. Vernon sophomore Lydia Tierney competed in two consolation finals.

Tierney finished fourth in the 100-yard butterfly consolation final for 12th overall with a time of 57.32. She was 16th in the 200-yard individual medley.
