Cpl. Scott R. “Scotty” Studebaker, 24, of Fortville, passed away February 8, 2016 at Camp Lejeune, N.C. He was born June 12, 1991, in Indianapolis.

Scotty achieved his lifelong goal of joining the Marines in 2013. Scotty was a member of the Motor Transport Maintenance Company, 2nd Maintenance Battalion stationed at Camp Lejeune, NC.

He was involved in many activities growing up including soccer, basketball, football, diving team and received many medals and awards as a 2nd degree black belt in Taekwondo.

Scotty was a fun loving, free spirit with a heart full of love for his family and friends. He treasured spending time with family and friends. He had a passion for fishing, boating and seeing the country on his Harley. He considered it an honor and privilege to serve his country and loved spending time with his fellow Marines.

Scotty comes from a large extended family. You only had to know him to love him. Where you heard laughter, he was always in the middle. He graduated from Pendleton Heights High School in 2010 and attended the University of Southern Indiana in Evansville.

Scotty is survived by parents, Scott and Stephanie (Huffman) Studebaker; sister ,Sydni Studebaker; grandparents, Ronald (Carolyn) Stamps, Linda Gressette, Bob (Carolyn) Huffman, “brother” Cody Pepple; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many special friends.

He was preceded in death by grandfathers, Larry Studebaker, who had been a Sgt. in the Marines and Colonel Bill Gressette, Army, Retired.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2016, at The Bridge Church, 611 Vitality Drive, Fortville, Ind.. A Celebration of Scotty’s life will be held from 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2016, at the church. Burial will follow with full military honors at Gravel Lawn Cemetery, Fortville.
