One killed, another hurt in crash on Interstate 70

HANCOCK COUNTY — One person was killed and another seriously injured in a crash on Interstate 70 Sunday near the Henry County line in Hancock County.

Witnesses called 911 after a car rolled several times near mile marker 113 on eastbound I-70 near the county line around 11:40 a.m. Sunday.

The two passengers in the vehicle were thrown from the car, according to police.

Rebecca Daniel, 47, of Dayton, Ohio, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Roderick Daniel, 25, also of Dayton, was airlifted to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He sustained serious injuries and remains in critical condition, police said.

Investigators say they are uncertain who was driving the car.

Witnesses told police the car was driving in the right lane at a high speed. As the car attempted to change lanes it ran off the road and rolled several times.

Traffic on the interstate was at a standstill for nearly three hours while Indiana State Police officers investigated the crash.
