John Michael Strauser

John Michael Strauser, age 81 of Indianapolis passed away Thursday, Jan. 7, 2016, at Morning Pointe Assisted Living, Franklin In. He was born Aug., 29, 1934, in Bloomfield, In. to the late Delmar and Lucille (Hinds) Strauser.

John was a 1952 graduate of Arsenal Technical High School and sergeant in the US Air Force serving from 1953 to 1957 as an air traffic controller. He worked as a Federal Aviation Air Traffic Controller for 60 years. John’s interests and activities include: commercial airplane pilot, Indianapolis 500 Official IMS Photographer, past national president of International Kart Federation and an avid woodworker. He was a member of The American Auto Racing Writers and Broadcasters Association, the Masonic Lodge, Elks Lodge and the Greenfield American Legion.

He is survived by his daughter, Debbie Strauser Lemke, brother, David (Judy) Strauser, cousin, Linda Haywood, grandson, Chad Lemke, dear friend, Nancy Hunt, several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Joan and Rosemary Strauser.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Monday, Jan. 11, 2016, at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel, 1780 West Main Street, Greenfield. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2016, at the funeral home with military rites. Burial will follow at Grandview Cemetery, Bloomfield, Indiana.
