Donald ‘Don’ B. Vansickle

Donald “Don” B. Vansickle, 88, of Greenfield, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016, at Springhurst Health Campus.

Born on June 14, 1927, in Lawrence, he was the son of W. Virgil and Verna A. (Preston) Vansickle.

He graduated from Warren Central in 1945. Don was a farmer for many years until starting Silvan Trucking, V&S Transport and D&J Services and was a member of Park Chapel Christian Church.

Don is survived by his wife, Jo Ann (Dickinson) Vansickle of Greenfield; son, Doug (Barbara) Vansickle of Fortville; daughters, Linda Vaught of Boggstown and Carole (Kevin) Miller of Greenfield; stephildren, Jay (Gerry) Nowlin of Greenfield and John Nowlin of Jersey City, New Jersey; eight grandchildren, Duane Vansickle, Brenda M. Davis, David Vansickle, Greg Vaught, Michael Vaught, Jacob Miller, Sarah Strom and Isaac Miller; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, W. Virgil and Verna A. (Preston) Vansickle; and first wife, Virginia (Welling) Vansickle; four sisters, Eleanor Wolf, Jean Berry, Shirley Williams and Joyce Lilley; and son-in-law, Gary Vaught.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. U.S. 40, Greenfield. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the mortuary. Pastors David Woods and Danny Curry will be officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Indianapolis.
