William “Ronnie” R. Brees, 72, of Hancock County, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 27, 2015 at Hancock Regional Hospital. He was born on May 22, 1943, in Greenfield as the son of William A. Brees and Rebecca (Reed) Proper.

He graduated from Hancock Central High School in 1961. Ronnie married Susie (White) on November 15, 1963.

Ronnie was proud to be part of the trucking industry for 51 years, as well as owning and operating several local businesses. He also worked on the wrecker crew at Indianapolis Motor Speedway for 35 years. He was a member of Curry’s Chapel, Greenfield FOP and Indianapolis 500 Oldtimers Club.

He enjoyed auto racing, spending time with grandchildren and telling stories to those with the time to listen.

Ronnie is survived by his wife, of 52 years, Susie Brees of Greenfield; sons, Brian (Terri) Brees of New Palestine and Brad (Angie) Brees of Fishers; brother, Jim (Susan) Proper of Greenfield; four grandchildren, Kyla, Will, Brandon and Owen and stepgrandson, Josh.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Brees; mother, Rebecca Proper; stepfather, Jack Proper and grandmother, Mary B. Fuller.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2015, at the mortuary. Pastor Steve Ellis will be officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
