CHARLOTTESVILLE — Members of the Eastern Hancock School Board approved a bond and a contract for a new superintendent during a special meeting Monday.

The district will borrow $500,000 from a bank to pay for facility improvements, including roof and window replacements at the high school. Repayment of the bond will begin July 15, and the interest rate will not exceed 4 percent. It will be paid off no later than Jan. 15, 2021.

The district also approved a three-year contract for its replacement superintendent, Vicki McGuire, who will start work on Jan. 1. She will be paid $103,000 annually.
