Robert E. Thompson, 88, of Greenfield, died on Friday, Dec. 18, 2015, at Community Heart and Vascular Hospital. He was born on Feb. 12, 1927, in Indianapolis, as the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thompson.
He served in the Merchant Marines.
Robert is survived by his loving wife, of 64 years, Helen Thompson; son, Charles Thompson and sister, Margaret Krodel.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Theodore Thompson.
Visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2015, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will take place immediately following the visitation at 2 p.m. William McKee will be officiating.
