Inmate who overdosed released from hospital

GREENFIELD — An inmate who overdosed on drugs at Hancock County Community Corrections on Sunday has been released from the hospital and booked into the Hancock County Jail.

A second inmate, who also took the drugs, still was being treated Tuesday. A third inmate, who police said they believe smuggled the drugs into the facility, also has been arrested.

The inmates are believed to have used Spice, a form of synthetic marijuana, and bath salts before becoming ill. Officials have not released the inmates’ names or further details, citing the ongoing investigation.
