George M. Short, 78, of Greenfield, passed away on Friday, Dec. 11, 2015, at Hancock Regional Hospital Hospice. He was born on Nov. 9, 1937, in Camblesville, Ky., as the son of Joseph and Alma (Richardson) Short.
He graduated from Morristown High School in 1956. He served in the Army. George married Betty Jean (Kinnaman) Brown on June 4, 1971.
He worked for Allisons General Motors for 28 years before retiring. He also farmed with his good friend, Bruce Muegge for over 20 years. Mr. Short was a member of Morristown Christian Church. He loved Fords and his Harley’s.
George is survived by his children, Tina Short Lewis of Whiteland, Debbie Short of Boise, Idaho, Rodney (Lee) Brown of Gwynneville, Vickie Linville of Morristown, Bud (Marti) Brown and Craig (Becki); brothers, Ralph “Dallas” Short of Indianapolis and Charles Short of Morristown; grandchildren and many great- grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Alma Short; wife, Betty Short; six brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2015, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will take place immediately following the visitation at 1 p.m. Chaplain Charles Short will be officiating. Burial will follow at Bennett Cemetery in Shelby County with military rites presented.
