Footlite Musicals

INDIANAPOLIS — Footlite Musicals presents a new version of Victor Herbert’s classic “Babes in Toyland,” running through Dec. 13 at the Hedback Community Theater, 1847 N. Alabama St. This family-friendly musical features Herbert’s story with a new script by local artists Bob Harbin and Claire Wilcher. “Babes” weaves together characters and themes from Mother Goose nursery rhymes into a Christmas-themed tale of heroes and villains.

Admission prices for the Friday, Saturday and Sunday performances are $23 for adults and $15 for attendees 17 and younger. Thursday and First Sunday performances are $10 for all seats. Theatre on the Square — Main Stage

INDIANAPOLIS — Theatre on the Square, 627 Massachusetts Ave., presents “A Christmas Story,” Hoosier humorist Jean Shepherd’s 1940s holiday tale of 9-year-old Ralphie Parker in his quest to get a genuine Red Ryder BB gun for Christmas. All the elements from the motion picture are part of the production, including the family’s temperamental exploding furnace, school bully Scut Farkas, the boys’ experiment with a wet tongue on a cold lamppost and Ralphie’s father’s major award.
