Mary B. Whisman, 86, of Shirley, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015, at Hancock Regional Hospital. She was born June 20, 1929, in Morehead, Ky., the daughter of Wiley and Myrtle (Cline) Burton.
Mary had lived in the Shirley area since 1949 and retired from Delco Remy in 1967. She attended the Shirley Friends Church.
She is survived by three sons, Rocky Wayne Whisman (Sue Crider) of New Castle, Gary “Keith” (Anna) Whisman of Greenfield, Robert Clay Whisman of Shirley; a daughter, Lisa Lynne (Tommy) Adams of Flemingsburg, Ky.; grandchildren, Eddie Nelson Lewis, Eric Lewis, Nathan Whisman, Beth Whisman, David Whisman, Lori Whisman, Andrea Whisman, Abby Whisman, Keith Whisman Jr., Amber Dawn Whisman, Troy Sewell, Ronda Melton, Laura Melton, Kenneth Lee Whisman, Jonathon Adams and Amanda Lynne Adams; several great- grandchildren; a sister, Lilly Faye Caldwell of Daleville; special nieces, Janie Sparks and Jean Hamm both of Morehead, Ky.; several special nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Whisman; three children, Claude Jr., Kenny, a retired Army veteran and Eddie Nelson Whisman, a retired Marine.
Gravesides services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 4, 2015, at Whisman Family Cemetery in Morehead, Ky., with Reverend Tommy Hamm officiating.
