Celia Genieve (Willard) Vail, 80, of McCordsville, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2015, at her residence. She was born on Jan. 20, 1935, in Hancock County, as the daughter of James L. and Helen L. (Kingen) Willard. She graduated from Maxwell High School in 1953. Genieve married Jack M. Vail on Sept. 10, 1955, at Curry’s Chapel in Hancock County.

She worked for Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation as the food service coordinator for 17 years, and she also supported her husband in his farming. She participated in the Hancock County Home Economics Club and was still very active in her Bunco club. She was a past volunteer at Angel Connection Food Pantry and Hancock Regional Hospital.

Genieve loved gardening, working in the yard and keeping track of her grandchildren. She loved her family and they all meant everything to her.

Genieve is survived by her husband, Jack M. Vail of McCordsville; children, M. Kim (Karen) Vail of Santa Rosa, Calif., Steve (Shelley) Vail of Greenfield, Sharla (Joe) Ping of Franklin and Vernée (Kelly) Eads of McCordsville; siblings, Jackie (Norris) Kerkhof and Ed (Pat) Willard; nine grandchildren, Valerie and Tommy (Emily) Vail; Kyle (Kat), Alyse and Keegan Vail, Allison and Ben Ping, Addison and Meridan Eads; one great- granddaughter, Hadley Vail; brother-in-law, Glen Vail and ten nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Helen Willard; sisters, Doris Willard and Patricia Vail; brothers-in-law, Carl Wayne Vail and Don Vail.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 22, 2015, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held on Monday, Nov. 23, 2015, at 1 p.m., at the mortuary. Reverend Jay Geshay will be officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
