Donald P. Griffith, 76, of Greenfield, passed away on Monday, November 16, 2015 at his residence. He was born on Nov. 8, 1939, in Helenwood, Tenn., as the son of Alfred K. and Lula A. (Perkins) Griffith. He graduated from Charlottesville High School in 1957. Donald served in the Army.
He worked for Schwitzer Cummins and Gardner-Denver for many years before retiring. Mr. Griffith was a member of the Greenfield American Legion, Trinity Park United Methodist Church and Charlottesville United Methodist Church.
He enjoyed baseball, basketball, bowling, golfing and was an avid collector of anything owls. He loved spending time his children and grandchildren and watching them in all their sports activities.
Donald is survived by his wife, Joyce Griffith of Greenfield; sons, Douglas (Kyle) Griffith of Knightstown and Darrell (Linda) Griffith of Hammond, La.; daughter, Sheila Brown of Fortville; brother, Bob Griffith of Grove City, Ohio; sister, Evelyn (Jerry) Archer of Greenwood; seven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred K. and Lula A. (Perkins) Griffith; brother, Kenneth Griffith and sister, Emma Griffith.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 20, 2015, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015, at the mortuary. Marianne Nichols will be officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
