New Palestine falls to Greenwood on the road

The New Palestine girls basketball team built a 26-18 halftime lead, but the host Greenwood Woodmen rallied back to win 48-42 on Tuesday night.

Led by 12 first-half points from senior Haley Stratman, the Dragons came out firing as the team hit 40 percent from the field and 57 percent from 3-point range.

The New Palestine defense stifled the Woodmen in the first half, leading to 20 percent shooting from the field.

A game-high 19 points from Jae Taft turned the tide, however, as Greenwood outscored New Palestine 30-16 in the second half.

Stratman finished with 16 points. Carly Hackler led the team with 12 rebounds and Raegan McMurray had four assists.

New Palestine falls to 1-1 and travels to Southport on Saturday for a 7:30 p.m. opening tip.
