Patricia Wheeler Gluys, a long time resident of Greenfield, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at the age of 84, at Brownsburg Healthcare on Thursday, Nov.12, 2015. She was born on May 4, 1931, in Connersville, to the late George W. and Mildred (Smith) Wheeler.

At a young age, Pat moved to Silver Springs, Md. and graduated with a degree in nursing from the University of Maryland in 1953. Pat spent much of her career as a registered nurse at Hancock Memorial Hospital in Greenfield and in the office of Wayne Endicott, M.D. until she retired in 1996. Pat remained actively involved with the hospital for many years as a volunteer. She served on the board of the Heart Association of Hancock County for 10 years, the Hancock County Senior Services Board, the Christian Women’s Association, the University of Maryland Nurses Alumni Association, and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Greenfield.

Pat is survived by her sons, Gary W. (Joan) Gluys of San Antonio, Robert L. (Merryn) Gluys of Indianapolis and James D. Gluys of Portage, Mich.; daughter, Marcia K. (Duane) Brock of Brownsburg; sister, JoAnn Karn of Holland, Mich.; 11 grandchildren, eight great- grandchildren and eight nephews and nieces.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Nov.5, 2015, at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel of Greenfield, 1780 W Main St. Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 16, 2015, at the First Presbyterian Church of Greenfield, 116 W South St, Greenfield, IN 46140. A private family burial will immediately follow the service at Riverside Cemetery in Cambridge City, Ind.

In lieu of flowers she requested that memorial contributions be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 116 W. South St., Greenfield, IN 46140.
