Dinner to help fund meals for those in need

WILKINSON — A free chili supper runs from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Righteous Oaks Baptist Church, 8356 N. State Road 109. All donations will go toward buying Thanksgiving meals for families in need. For more information, call 765-785-2858.

Veterans Sunday includes patriotic musical

NEW PALESTINE — New Palestine United Methodist Church will pay tribute to veterans at a single service scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Sunday in the sanctuary.

The patriotic musical “I Love This Land” will be presented by the choir and will include a children’s choir.

The focus of this day is to reach out to the community, especially to veterans.

Following the service, there will be an all-church pitch-in dinner, with the hope guests will stay to share the meal, make some connections and enjoy each other enough to return.

The church is at 3565 S. County Road 500W.

Women’s luncheon features auction

GREENFIELD — Greenfield Christian Women’s Club Luncheon is set for 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Ninestar, 2243 E. Main St. The buffet opens at 11:45 a.m.; cost is $10 inclusive.

The theme of the gathering is holiday fare. Wreaths, swags, centerpieces, baked goods and plants will be up for bids in a holiday auction.

Speaker Jean Schaffer will discuss “Winning the Game.”

The luncheon series is affiliated with Stonecroft Ministries.

Seminar to focus on grief during holidays

NEW PALESTINE — Zion Lutheran Church is sponsoring a seminar to help people who face intense grief during the holiday season.

“Griefshare – Surviving the Holidays” features video instruction and group discussion designed to be warm, encouraging and helpful. It’s set for 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and is open to all in the community.

Participants will:

  • Watch a 40-minute video, filled with practical tips on how to survive the holidays.
  • Hear from others who are dealing with grief this holiday season.
  • Have the opportunity to share how grief is affecting them.
  • Receive a personal Holiday Survival Guide.
  • Learn it’s OK to take care of oneself above perceived social obligations.
  • Have the chance to achieve a sense of hope and healing.

McCordsville church to serve Thanksgiving dinner

McCORDSVILLE — McCordsville United Methodist Church will serve a community Thanksgiving dinner from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Nov. 21. An offering will be accepted for the meal and will benefit the church.

Bazaar, turkey dinner set in Shirley

SHIRLEY — A fall bazaar is set for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at Shirley-Wilkinson Community United Methodist Church.

Booths will include home-baked goods, crafts and candy.

A turkey and dressing dinner is available for $6 from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Silent auction bids will be collected for a homemade hourglass pattern quilt.

Feast of Plenty seeks volunteers

GREENFIELD — The 10th annual Feast of Plenty Community Outreach Thanksgiving Dinner will be served from 11 a.m. 3 p.m. Nov. 26 at the Hancock County 4-H Fairgrounds.

The event is sponsored by area churches, businesses and volunteers. You can help by donating food and/or time to provide a free Thanksgiving dinner to people in the community.

Organizers need donations of cooked food, canned goods for bags of groceries that will be sent home with families at the dinner, and help with setup, serving and cleanup. Find a list of items and tasks at loveinc-ghc.org/feast-of-plenty-is-coming-up.

Ham, turkey supper coming to Eden United Methodist

EDEN — Eden United Methodist Church will serve a ham and turkey supper from 4 to 7 p.m. today.

Revival services coming at Faith Baptist Church

MORRISTOWN — The Rev. Mike Manor, evangelist, will speak in revival services at Faith Baptist Church in Morristown.

Services will start at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 15 and at 7 p.m. daily Nov. 16-20.

Paul and Betty Hiscock will provide music.

Robinette to present concert

CUMBERLAND — Tammy Robinette will be in concert at 9:30 a.m. Sunday at New Beginning Baptist Church, 9801 E. Rawles Ave.

Bazaar continues today at Zion United

INDIANAPOLIS — Zion United Church of Christ’s Christmas Bazaar began Friday and continues from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. today in the gym of the church, 8916 E. Troy Ave.

The bazaar features vendors, crafters, a bake sale and more. Admission is free.

Members of the church will sell holiday decor and garage sale items, too.

Food will be available.
