The Mt. Vernon Middle School cheer teams and their parents are still on cloud nine after the state competition late this past month.

The gold squad competed in the timeout division and placed third overall, while the white squad placed second in the small junior high division, beating out six other squads.

The timeout division consists of teams performing a 75-second crowd involvement routine, similar to what cheerleaders would perform during a basketball game timeout.

The small junior high division performed a 75-second routine that included cheer, stunts and dance.

The white squad cheerleaders included, first row left to right, Sydney Walsh, Stella Spector, Analise Parsley and Danae Kendrex; second row, Shechinah Goodman, Makenzie Shisler, Annie Hankins, Hannah Kessinger, Emma Muffler, Gracesyn Thomas, Soleigh Millspaugh and Bailie Pell. The team is coached by Maggie Kramer and Jordan Sell.

The gold squad consists of, first row left to right, Madison Foley, Brianna Page, Anna Hawks, Ashley Belcher and Lilly Cole; second row, Zoey Taylor, Kate Gray, Lauren Harrington, Meredith Johnson and Shelby Sessions; third row, Sheyenne Perr, Jaela Jordan, Brookyln Trittipo, Bryanna Noesges, Jenna Karres and Brookyln Shannon. The squad is coached by Kay Burdine and Jordan Sell.
