Virley E. "Gene" Crosby, 78, of Morristown, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2015, at Major Hospital in Shelbyville. He was born Nov. 26, 1936, in Fairland, the son of Donald and Goldie (Jones) Crosby.
He married Peggy McKenzie on June 10, 1972, and she survives.
Gene retired from Nabisco, with 10 years of service. After retirement, he worked in landscaping. He loved gardening. Gene was a collector of model cars and he enjoyed going to car shows. He also enjoyed going to Goodwill every weekend.
Gene is also survived by his brother, Robert (Beverly) Crosby of Vista, Calif.; father-in-law, Ernest McKenzie of Shelbyville; brother-in-law, David (Mary) McKenzie of Fairland; sisters-in-law, Mary (Mike) Sanders of Bargersville, and Lori McKenzie of Blue Ridge and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his dog, Lady.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Don Crosby Sr. and Melvin Crosby and sisters, Shirley McKee, Iona Shoopman and Colleen Stites.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, 2015, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Frazier Chapel, 124 E. North St. in Morristown. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 9, 2015, at the funeral home. Interment will be at Asbury Cemetery in Morristown.
