High school football enters championship Friday

Class 6A moves into the regional championship round Friday while the rest of the state’s football classes contend for sectional titles.

The biggest game on the schedule will occur in Class 5A Sectional 14 as two unbeaten programs lock up with No. 2 Columbus East hosting No. 1 New Palestine.

Tickets available for sectional title contest

Advance sale tickets are available in the New Palestine athletics office for Friday night’s Class 5A Sectional 14 championship game at Columbus East High School. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Tickets are $6 and available to purchase until 2:30 p.m. Friday.

Friday’s game pits No. 1 New Palestine against No. 2 Columbus East. The meeting marks the third straight year New Palestine and Columbus East will clash with a championship on the line.

New Palestine defeated Columbus East 30-28 in the Class 4A semistate championship en route to winning it’s first state title last year. In 2013, Columbus East won 49-14 in the semistate title game before clinching the 4A state championship.
