Lorene Evaline Shepler, 99, entered into Heaven on Nov. 3, 2015. She was a longtime resident of Sugar Creek Nursing Home in Greenfield.

Lorene was one of twelve siblings born Oct. 1, 1916, in Orange, Ind., to William Snoddy and Mary Jane (Mullen) Clifton. On May 30, 1935, she married William Fredrick (“Shag”) Shepler in Rushville, where they resided together for many years prior to his passing.

Her greatest joy in life was her family. She was a fan of any sport played by her grandchildren, and was most proud of her son’s successful high school coaching career. She enjoyed cooking for many holiday and birthday gatherings. Her family always looked forward to eating her homemade dumplings and cherry pies. Lorene was also a cherished member of the First Presbyterian Church in Rushville, Ind.

Lorene is survived by her son, Marvin (Nadine) Shepler; son-in-law, John Foist; Brother, Bill (Rita) Snoddy; six grandchildren, Jeff (Laura) Shepler, Brent (Diana) Shepler, Mark (Megan) Shepler, Susan (Stephen) Selke, and Lori (Kenny) Thompson; nine great- grandchildren, Jena (Evan) Schildmier, Jayde and Kalli Shepler-Tucker, Connor, Cole, and Sydney Shepler, Maverick Shepler, Ben and Matthew Thompson; as well as five great- stepgrandchildren, Jane and Stephen Selke, Ethan, Logan, and Asher Brown.

In addition to her husband, Lorene was preceded in death by her parents; several siblings; her daughter, Jane Anne Foist and granddaughter, Mary Jane Foist.

A private family service will take place at a later date at East Hill Cemetery in Rushville, Ind.
