Richard Lee Arthur, 83, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully Friday, Oct. 30 2015, at Westminster Village North in Indianapolis. Richard was born Sept. 21, 1932, in Gem, Ind., to the late Albert and Lois (Lamb) Arthur. Richard graduated from New Palestine High School in 1950. He married Joyce Mae (Miller) on June 10, 1951.

Richard served in the National Guard from 1949 to 1952. He retired from Indiana Bell after 37 ½ years of service, on Feb. 16, 1990. Mr. Arthur was a volunteer fire fighter in New Palestine and a farmer for many years.

He was a member of the Franklin Road Baptist Church, and he and Joyce volunteered for Christian Ministries for the Lord throughout the years.

Richard is survived by his wife, Joyce (Miller) Arthur; daughters, Sharon Koontz of Indianapolis and Terry Kinder of Greenfield; sons, Randy Lee Arthur of Oldsmar, Fla. and Roger Lee (Tami) Arthur of Greenwood; eight grandchildren and 16 great- grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service at 2 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 1, 2015, at Hendryx Mortuary, 19 E. Main St. New Palestine, IN 46163.
