Pastor Frederick Hubert, 82 of Greenfield passed away unexpectedly in Venice, Fla., on Oct. 20, 2015. He was born June 23, 1933, in Sheboygan, Wisc., to the late Christian and Marie (Kober) Hubert.

He was a graduate of Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Mo., May 8, 1958 and Ordained June 22, 1958, at Emmaus Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne. He served as Pastor of Churches, Emmaus 1958-61, Fort Wayne, Emmanuel 1961-66,Indianapolis, Indiana District LC-MS staff person for Stewardship & Evangleism from 1966-73. Our Blessed Savior 1973-91, Alexandria, Ind. and St. Paul-Borchers 1991-97, Seymour. He served as Dean of Indiana Conference of the ELCA 1977-87 and Dean of the East Central Indiana Conference ELCA 1988-90.

Pastor Hubert retired from full time ministry in July 1997 and moved to Greenfield. He served on the Board of Directors of the LCFS (Lutherwood) from 1968-71, the Board of Directors of Wernle Children's Home, Richmond, Indiana 2004-2006 and 2009-2011. He was a certified trainer of counselors for Life Inovations, Inc. Premarital preparation program, 1991-2007 and a volunteer tutor in ESL at the Greenfield Learning Center, 2007.

He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Greenfield from 1997-2010 and Cross of Grace Lutheran Church in New Palestine since 2010.

Fred also enjoyed travel, golf and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Mary E. (Walker) Hubert of Greenfield; children, Jonathon Hubert of Nederland, Colo., Michael Hubert of Pendleton, Janice Abplanalp of Indianapolis; brother, Ronald Hubert of Appleton, Wisc. and five grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Mina W. Hubert in 2007 and sister, Myrna, Bourret.

Friends may call 4-8 p.m., Friday Oct. 30, 2015, at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel, 1780 West Main Street, Greenfield, IN 46140. Funeral services will be 1p.m., Saturday, Oct. 31, 2015, at Cross of Grace Lutheran Church, 3519 South 600 West, New Palestine, IN 46163 with calling 1 hour prior to service.
