GREENFIELD — Greenfield Main Street has announced the opening of the fall cycle for facade grants, which are open to homeowners, building owners and business owners in the downtown Greenfield area.

The façade grants are designed to help improve the overall look of the historic downtown area.

Matching grants are awarded on a dollar-for-dollar basis, in amounts up to $3,000.

Projects the façade grants could cover include the following: new doors, windows, siding, masonry work and signage, so long as the work impacts the front of the house or building.

Grant applications are due by 4 p.m. Nov. 20. A separate application to the Greenfield Historic Board of Review is required by 4 p.m. Nov. 27.

Grant applications will be reviewed Nov. 30 through Dec. 3. The Historic Board of Review meeting takes place Dec. 3, and the Greenfield Main Street board makes its recommendations Dec. 14.

Grant recipients will be notified Dec. 22.

Contracts must be prepared and signed by all parties by Jan. 10, and work must be completed by June 30.
