GREENFIELD — Susie Billings told her fellow Greenfield Kiwanians recently about Imagination Library.

Imagination Library is an early childhood literacy program launched by the Dollywood Foundation in 1995 by singer and performer Dolly Parton.

Imagination Library is a program made possible through a partnership of the Hancock County Community Foundation and the Hancock County Public Library.

The Imagination Library program will provide an age-appropriate book to all qualifying children who are residents of Hancock County. Books are delivered monthly to their home.

The community foundation is asking Hancock County residents to invest in the future of our community’s children by contributing to an endowment fund that will ultimately fully support the program. Until then, the foundation will provide the financial resources needed to fill funding gaps related to immediate book expenses.

To jump start the endowment, the foundation will celebrate the National Week of Philanthropy from Nov. 9 to 13.

During that week, each dollar donated will be matched with 50 cents from a pool of $100,000 via a grant from Lilly Endowment.
