Erwin Elmer Laufer, 82, of Fairland, Ind., passed away Oct. 20, 2015. He was born Feb. 1, 1933, in New Palestine, to Clarence and Anna C. (Noelting) Laufer.

He married Patricia Ann (Dickey) Laufer on Aug.17, 1952. She preceded him in death. Erwin was active in farming for the majority of his life, he was also an A.I. technician for many years. Additionally, he served the Northwestern Consolidated School District as a custodian. He was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church of New Palestine.

Erwin is survived by his children, Cheryl (John) Ricker of Shelbyville, Christine (Chuck) Brinson of Fairland, and Craig Laufer of Erie, Pennsylvania. Also surviving are two siblings, Norman Laufer and Martha Shore; six grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, and special friend, Susan Moody.

In addition to his wife and parents, Erwin was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Horman and Emma Laufer.

Visitation for Erwin will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 23, 2015, with an additional hour of visitation from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2015. Both visitation and funeral services will be held at Zion Lutheran Church 6513 W. 300 S. New Palestine, IN 46163. Burial will be at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery immediately following the funeral.

Arrangements are being handled by Hendryx Mortuary 11636 E. Washington St. Indianapolis, IN 46229.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Erwin’s name to Zion Lutheran Church and School.
