Thomas Wayne Lawrence

Thomas Wayne Lawrence, 79, of Knightstown, passed away peacefully Monday Oct. 12, 2015, in Greenfield. He was born Oct. 19, 1935, to the late Kenneth and Dora (Smith) Lawrence in Cadiz, Ind.

Tom married his wife Sue (Bartle) Lawrence on Jan. 20, 1957, celebrating 58 years this year. He was a project supervisor for 46 years for the Indiana Department of Transportation in the construction department. Tom very much loved his job. He enjoyed playing golf, watching his son and grandchildren play football, soccer, baseball, basketball. He also liked to watch racing. He and his wife Sue were avid race fans of the Indy 500 Race and attended every year. Tom was an all over sports fan! He is a long time member of the Golden Rule Lodge # 16 in Knightstown.

Tom will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Sue; three daughters, Leah Freeman and LuAnn (Steve) Peek, Kandy (Doug) Kiehl; son, Mark (Dana) Lawrence; 10 grandchildren; Greg Freeman, Eric (Liz) Freeman, Jami, Rusty (Jodi) Poore, Debbie(Davis) Poore, Lori (Jared) Poore Newhouse, Darrin Poore, Isaac (Brie) Kiehl, Gabrielle and Grant Lawrence; five great- grandchildren, Carlie Newhouse, Tenley Davis, Asher andBentlee Hoots, and Noelle Kiehl; three nieces, Carolyn Gordon, Joyce (Frank)Dyer and Kim Lawrence; two nephews, Doug (Chari) Lawrence and Rick (Sherry) Lawrence; five great- nieces; four great- nephews and sister- in- law, JoEllyn Lawrence.

In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his two brothers, Forest and Walter Lawrence and sister- in- law, Kathleen Lawrence.

Friends may visit from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, 2015 and 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015, prior to Masonic Service at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Services for Tom will be held at Noon on Saturday Oct. 17, 2015, at Heritage Funeral Care in Knightstown. Burial will be in Glen Cove Cemetery with Pastor Tim Bassford and sister- in- law, Dana Lawrence presiding.
