Phillip ‘Phil’ Henry Sparks

Phillip “Phil” Henry Sparks, 76, of Greenfield, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2015, at Hancock Regional Hospice. He was born on Oct. 19, 1938, in Indianapolis, as the son of Forest and Eva Louise (Griffith) Sparks. He graduated from Mt. Comfort High School in 1956. Phil married Ruth (Boyer) on Aug. 5, 1972, in Milroy, Ind.

He owned and operated his family business For-Lou Farms. He was a dairy farmer who raised Guernsey cattle. Mr. Sparks was a member of Bradley United Methodist Church. He was also a member of Indiana Guernsey Breeders Association, American Guernsey Association and Indiana Farm Bureau.

Phil is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Sparks of Greenfield; son, Adam (Marie Anthonette) of Los Baños, Laguna, Philippines; daughter, Amanda (Clint) Oliver of Stillwater, Okla. and two grandchildren, Gavin and Braeden Oliver.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Forest and Eva Louise (Griffith) Sparks and sister, Dolores Kessler.

Memorial visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2015, at Bradley United Methodist Church, 210 W. Main Street, Greenfield, IN 46140. A memorial service will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 5, 2015, at the church, with viewing one hour prior to the service. Rev. David Scifres will be officiating.
